Great surf day

Theory on why older people are depressed
My professor’s colleague from Scripps hypothesized that the reason is Shifting Baselines. A fisherman in the 1940’s encountered varieties of fish, giant predators, but most importantly bigger sizes and types. The fisherman would catch giant fish nonstop as the norm.
A fisherman now would encounter barely any fish and be extremely excited to even catch one “big” fish.
